ICC --
International Cricketing Council. See Governing bodies.
In-ducker --
Opposing batsman's term for the stock delivery of a trundler. The in-ducker is
a straight ball that the batsman has missed.
Infield --
Those fielders either close to the bat in search of a catch, or within about 30
yards of it, saving the single.
Injuries --
If a batsman or bowler gets injured before he is needed, hard luck. Other
players in the team can fill in for an injured bowler, but no allowance is made
for an unfit batsman.
Innings --
(a)
The time spent at the wicket by one batsman, until he is out;
(b)
The combined innings of the entire batting team, ending when ten batsmen are
out, or the batting captain declares the innings closed. (Note: In cricket, the
word "innings" is used for both the plural and the singular).
Inswinger -- Swing
delivery that moves in the air towards a righthanded batsman. The bowler's aim
is to pass the inside edge of the bat and hit the batsman's leg for an lbw, or
the wicket itself.
