  Common Fault

Taking on the off-side

Body poised forward and towards wicket.
The right foot moves across but never back to bring the head into line with the ball. Note inward turn of right foot
The hands give as they take the ball.
The weight transfers to the inside leg as the ball is carried to the stumps.
Body moves off the line of the ball just before the "take" giving free arm movement towards wicket.

Taking on the leg-side
  Palms face ball.
  Head stays down.
Do not move too quickly -- wait -- and move quickly after picking up line and length.
The left foot takes another step but the weight is kept on the right foot.

Taking a rising ball at shoulder level
The body sways off the line.
  Elbows free from side.
The lean of the body towards the stumps helps the hands move quickly to take the ball.

Snatching or grabbing at the ball.
