Tendulkar to miss fourth ODI
HAMILTON: Sachin Tendulkar was today ruled out of the fourth one-dayer against New Zealand due to an abdomen injury he suffered during the second ODI in Wellington.
Tendulkar was hit in the abdomen by Iain O'Brien during the second ODI, and he aggravated the injury during his unbeaten 163 in the third ODI in Christchurch. An MRI revealed that there had been traces of internal bleeding, ruling him out of tomorrow's match here.
"The report has indicated swelling and internal bleeding in the stomach and doctors have advised him rest so that he can play the final ODI," said Mr Niranjan Shah.
"It is painful that I have to miss a game when there has been good momentum. I have been hitting the ball well but I'm hoping to play the final ODI," said Tendulkar.
Meanwhile, there is good news for India in the bowling front as Ishant Sharma worked up decent pace in the nets, and is likely to play the fourth ODI. "Ishant has started bowling in the nets and a decision on his availability will be taken after conducting a fitness test," added Mr Shah. |
