Cook scores ton as England draw Barbados Test

BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS: Alastair Cook scored his eighth Test hundred as England forced a draw in the fourth Test against West Indies here on Monday.

Left-hander Cook was undefeated on 139 and Kevin Pietersen was unbeaten on 72, as the visitors reached 279 for two when play was called off at the Kensington Oval.

The result meant that England continues to trail in the five-Test series 0-1, following an innings and 23-run defeat in the opening Test at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

The fifth and final Test of the series starts next Friday at Queen's Park Oval in the Trinidad capital of Port of Spain.

Fifth day's highlights:

# Kevin Pietersen (72 not out off 116 balls) posted his 14th Test fifty - his fourth against West Indies.

# Pietersen has averaged 63.33 against West Indies - his best ever against any nation. In eight Tests against West Indies, he has aggregated 760 runs, including two hundreds and four fifties.

# Alastair Cook (94 & 139 not out) has posted a ninety and a century in a Test match for the first time.

# Cook (52 & 58 at St.John's and 94 & 139 not out at Bridgetown) has batted consistently in the last two Tests, registering four fifty-plus innings - a feat recorded by him for the first time.

# Cook, during the course of his 8th century (his third against West Indies), has completed his 3000 runs in Tests - 3042 (ave.44.08). At 24 years and 67 days, he became the youngest English player to complete 3000 runs in Tests.

# The just concluded Bridgetown Test has witnessed 1628 runs for the loss of 17 wickets, which is the second highest run-aggregate between England and West Indies. The 1929-30 Kingston Test had produced 1815 for 34 wickets.
